This love calculator gives a playful compatibility score for two names — a deterministic little ritual based on the letters in your names. Same names, same score, every time. Pure fun; Cupid was not consulted.
How This Completely Serious Instrument Works
The score adds up the letter values in both names (lowercased, concatenated) and takes the total modulo 101 — landing between 0% and 100%. It is deterministic: Romeo and Juliet score 88% here today, tomorrow and forever, which is more consistency than most relationships manage. Nicknames, maiden names and creative spellings all change the result — a feature couples have used to lawyer their way to a better score since these toys first appeared in 1990s magazines and early websites. Part of our Other Calculators collection of useful-and-occasionally-silly tools.
A Brief, Loving Disclaimer
- There is exactly zero science here. Compatibility research points to boring things — kindness, shared values, repair after conflict — none of which fit in a name.
- Do not make decisions with this. Do make screenshots with it.
- If your score is low, change a spelling and try again. This is the one calculator on the site where fudging the inputs is tradition.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the love calculator work?
It converts both names into a number from their letter values and reduces it to a 0–100% score. Deterministic and reproducible — the same pair of names always gets the same result.
Is the love calculator accurate?
As entertainment: perfectly. As relationship science: not even slightly, and it does not pretend otherwise. Real compatibility is built, not computed.
Why did my score change when I used a nickname?
Different letters, different number. Full names, first names only, with or without surnames — each spelling is its own pairing in the formula.
What is a good love calculator score?
Whatever makes you smile. The messages here treat 85%+ as star-crossed, but history’s great couples would have scored all over the chart.
Can I test friends, celebrities or fictional couples?
That is approximately 90% of what this page is for. Historical and fictional pairings carry no privacy concerns whatsoever.
Is this love calculator free?
Yes — free, unlimited, no sign-up and no names stored anywhere. What happens on this page stays on this page.
