This random number generator picks whole numbers in any range you set — one at a time or in batches, with or without repeats — for raffles, dice substitutes, classroom picks and game nights.
What "Random" Means Here
The generator uses your browser's built-in pseudorandom engine — an algorithm that produces sequences statistically indistinguishable from true randomness for games, raffles, sampling and picking who washes up. It is uniform: every number in the range has exactly the same chance on every draw (which our Probability Calculator can help you reason about). Two modes matter:
- Unique (sampling without replacement): shuffles the full range and deals from it — raffle tickets, lottery-style draws, random student selection. Requires count ≤ range size.
- Repeats allowed (with replacement): each draw is independent — dice rolls, random PIN-style codes, simulation inputs. Duplicates are not a bug; they're what independence looks like (the birthday paradox guarantees them sooner than intuition expects).

Fairness Notes
- Browser pseudorandomness is excellent for play and sampling but is not designed for cryptography, high-value prize draws with legal exposure, or scientific publication without disclosure. Regulated draws use audited physical or cryptographic systems.
- No generator can rescue a biased process: if the list being picked from is incomplete, the pick from it is too.
- Humans are poor randomness judges — runs and clusters (three 7s in ten draws) are normal, not evidence of rigging.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does this random number generator work?
It uses your browser's pseudorandom number engine to pick uniformly from your range — either by shuffling the whole range (unique mode) or by independent draws (repeats allowed). Nothing is uploaded or stored.
Can I generate lottery numbers with it?
Yes — set the range (e.g. 1–49), count 6, unique mode. It will be every bit as lucky as any other combination, which is to say: all combinations are equally (un)likely, but yours will at least be truly random.
Why did I get the same number twice with "unique" off?
Because independent draws can repeat — that is what independence means. Drawing 1–10 five times and never repeating would actually be the suspicious outcome.
Is this random enough for a giveaway?
For community and classroom giveaways, absolutely. For legally regulated promotions, use an audited third-party draw service and keep its certificate.
What is the largest range supported?
Unique mode needs the range in memory (millions is fine); count is capped at 1,000 numbers per click for readability. Repeats mode handles any range size the inputs accept.
Is this random number generator free?
Yes — free, unlimited, no sign-up.
